Knowing ALLAH

Assalamualikum. If I were to ever ask you or anybody that whose love is the most profound one? Many of us would say parents or spouse, children or friends or any other person from friends or family

But the only profound and perfect love that exists is love of ALLAH. As a beginner to this journey how do you understand Allah and his love?….This is a step by step forever journey. The more you know Allah’s love for you, the more you get attached to Allah and become obedient. One of the easiest way to get to know Allah for anyone is to read his attributes.

ALLAH has 99 names. Each name is unique and deep. If you look at their meanings closely, you understand that most of the names convey the meaning of mercy and love. And remember when you read and understand them, know that your reading the most perfect entity attributes.

We can start by learning the 2 most read names that is AR RAHMAAN AND AR RAHEEM. Arabic language is so beautiful that you cannot translate these words or most words into English or any other language that can convey it’s 100% meaning.

If you translate these names, it means merciful. But let me explain you how different and deep they are in meaning. Rahmaan and Raheem come from the root word “RAHM” which means womb. If you think of a mother, when she conceives, the child is being nurtured by Allah. She doesn’t know if it’s a male of a female neither she knows it’s color, it’s form etc. Yet, a mother is in complete love with the baby that’s being conceived.

When you relate this to the attribute of Ar rahmaan and ar raheem. You understand what importance it hold and conveys a deep meaning. From the word of Rahmaan and Raheem, ALLAH gave the name to a womb RAHM so that we understand the deep love care and protection of mother towards the baby. This also depicts that ALLAH, from the very beginning of our lives till the end and even in the hereafter shall take care of us. We always need him.

Coming to the name of Ar rahmaan it means All merciful. Which means that no matter who you are- A muslim or a non muslim, an animal or bird etc. ALLAH is merciful towards you. His mercy encompasses every creation and his mercy is above his anger. Even the tiniest ant, ALLAH hasn’t left it alone. He provides, nurtures, protects and the cycle of life goes on.

And coming to the name Ar raheem. This name means Specially merciful. This is specifically to the believers of Islam. Subhanallah ❤️ how beautiful is to use both of Allah’s attributes to call out to him. This is like an extra added mercy towards us. ALLAH is already All merciful to everyone. But to a believer he is also specifically or specially merciful. Isn’t it like a privilege a believer enjoys?

Imagine your travelling in an economy class. But because you have been an amazing and kind traveller you are being upgraded for free to business class. It feels so amazing to enjoy a privilege for just being a favourite traveller by the airline. Or let’s just say, there is a very important person who is your favourite- A VIP. Who holds amazing power and is wanted by everyone. Everyone wants to meet and talk to them. Among the crowd you have been picked up. Doesn’t this feel like a dream come true?

ALLAH is the kings of the kings. The most special one. Imagine you as a believer, ALLAH is being specifically, specially merciful to you because of your sincere faith in him. Think of it, his love is 70 times more than a mother. We cannot measure the extent of a mother love. Imagine it by 70 times. And you as a believer is being benefitted by Allah’s mercy and his special mercy for you.

Analyse your life and ask yourself. When Allah is giving you this amount of love and mercy, what is your response and how much you should be taking it? How intense must be our efforts to gain Allah’s love every single day? We do so much to gain extra love of our parents, spouse, children, family and friends. How much extra and sincere must be your effort to gain Allah’s love which is easy and most profound.

Love of Allah is like a deep ocean. One who dips into it finds pearls and jewels. But the question is , are you ready to swim and explore?
